PROBLEM

Individuals with complex epilepsy suffer from uncontrollable seizures. They are in danger of head injuries from falls.

Available head protection is limited, and not discreet (social stigma).

First-aid help when in seizure is not always available due to limited education of the general public. Patients are often dependent on companions.

INTERVENTION

Concealed protection against head injury during seizure, with the aim to reduce social stigma and promote independent living for individuals suffering from epilepsy.
Concept for Design Development

Concealed helmet to automatically inflate upon seizure with a fabric display to provide bystanders with first aid instructions.

Addresses teenagers & young adults with a desugn that is suitable across age/ gender.

Its aim is to reduce social stigma and increase independence in living and confidence to be outside unaccompanied.
